January 30, 2008 - "Vertical vs. Horizontal"

Oh, how we love Chuck Taylors in this family. Every one of us-we love to create custom ones off the Converse web site as well. So here's a shot I got of DS's little Chucks as he ran around outside yesterday. In keeping with this week's theme, a horizontal crop, and a vertical one. I think I prefer the vertical, it shows his baggy little jeans, too.

85mm. ss/250, f/3.2, ISO 200. Lots of random stuff done to it-a few textures, some burning, different layers, a couple of J. Gaylor brushes (graffiti) on a low opacity. Trying for a gritty, urban, but not necessarily "Urban Acid" look.

I like them both, they each convey a different feeling. I thinkI like the second one a bit better.

I like both crops for different reasons. . . :) I didn't know you could customize your Converse shoes. Maybe we'll have to try it out.

Wow...love the color of the photos. So "boy" inspired. I didn't know you could create custom ones. I am so doing that! Awesome.

So cute and I love the PPing on these, really bright and vibrant.
I love chucks but the only kid in my house I could convince to get some was my DD. She got grey with hearts and skull and crossbones.

I really like the vertical shot. This is a perfect photo for using texture. Chuck Taylors are a classic favorite! My kid wore them 20 years ago!

Oh, I like your "gritty" look here. My favorite is the vertical because I like the touch of red at the top, and the shirt ads to the mood of the pic. Very nice! And I am still not in the habit of posting every day; therefore I can't comment every day, but I have to say that your past work is fabulous in every way. ML
