April 19, 2008

Amanda (peawithme) inspired me to try backlighting. My shot isn't near as wonderful as hers are, but I like what I caught. This is what Tina does on a shoot when we're not shooting-she really believes in the power of dandelion wishes.

85mm. ss/800, f/2.8, ISO 200.

Tried a selective color adj. layer to help with the yellow grass. Any better?

It is so hard to shoot in full sun! I just posted some in full sun too and my grass turned yellow too! I like the conversion one...did you add a white vignette to it?

Love the halo effect--subtle yet effective. Nice work!

I kind of liked the yellow- it could have been a field of dandelions!

Hey Jenn...you're in my bloglines too so I'm back! I think maybe just do a selective color to add some red maybe to just her face (it's so hard to tell without playing with it and honestly, I still really struggle with seeing color casts consistently). I know that the yellow sunset kind of look is very popular too!! I'm sorry I'm not much more help! I try to CC when I can, but I always hesitate because I still have so much to learn myself!!

I like the halo. I think backlighting is so beautiful, and I don't mind yellow grass that much in bright sun, because it kind of looks that way in real life.

Backlighting is HARD! I feel like I will never master it, lol! Your shot is GREAT. I love the light shining through her hair. The b&w just BLOWS ME AWAY!
